Foto Phaves: Zulu!

Zulu dancers in KwaZulu Natal

At Giants Castle, a group of Zulu dancers showed up. I was midway into a nap when the drums started. Well worth the wake-up, though.

Dancing is for Zulu men and girls before they are married.

The drums are quite loud, and I would imagine that even just the drumming is very athletic, as well.

The dances began with the dancers all moving in unison, and grew more individual as the dancing progressed, with greater and greater displays of athletic ability.

This dancer, Ace, joined the group partway through as the group was no longer dancing together and individual dancers were showcasing their strength.

The dancing takes impressive strength. After they finished Ace asked us to mail him some photos. I have them printed, and hope to get them in the mail today.
