Omiš, Croatia: a view from the Pirate's Fort.
We are back in Omiš for a week and a half, catching up on school and regrouping before our next adventure. I think I’ve decided that two months is too long in one place, especially one we know little about before arriving. It doesn’t help that we are not in love with Omiš, although it did serve a purpose. I’ll do a post about it later.
Our lives were so frantic as we were leaving and there are so many details to get lined up before leaving for a year and a half, there were a lot of things that were not finished. Having a place to stop and tie up the loose ends has been good. The girls have been able to focus on school and I’ve even spent a fair amount of time on Lynda.com learning more about a couple of my programs.
We’ve paid for this apartment through the 16th, but neither Hannah nor John want to still be here for their birthdays on the 13th and 14th. I’m itching to get out of here, as well. Unless we drive someplace else, like Baška Voda where we were yesterday, our thoughts start drifting home. Our dogs, cats, and horses pull at our hearts when we are spending too much time standing still.

John, I am in Black Butte with Suzann and the kids, it is 11pm – morning your time. We are up for the Sisters Rodeo. I picked up a dinner to go and grabbed the bend bulletin as I went out. Saw a photo of your family – Suzann and I were married in Croatia – she actually owns property there. I have been there a number of times. It sounds like your are up north. Suzann’s Dad is from the island of Pag – she has a lot of family there. If you guys liked Korcula – you will love Rab and Pula they are up north. I would highly recommend both places.
Suzann’s Dad is good buddies with the Grgich family – his name is Vlado Baricevic from Pag.
We will be in Split in August. Hank.
Hi Hank,
I sent you an email last night, hope you got it. As I mentioned we are only here for about another week up here in Pula. And yes we do love it here. Hope you enjoy Split in August we will be back in central Europe then. We did some islands off that area Hvar, Korcula and loved them. Brac is the closest to Split but we ran out of time and did not visit. Looks like it has some great stuff, especially around Bol. Toured the old Roman Coliseum yesterday and are heading out to the beaches today. That is pretty cool that you were married here. Does Suzann speak any Croatian?
Best,
John
