We spent the weekend at our cabin on the lower Deschutes with friends and family, and I really missed my camera. The fire in the canyon last fall burned off the dead grass and brush, leaving the hills greener than I have ever seen them. Hopefully the repairs will not take the full five weeks I was told they might. We also saw more rattlesnakes than I have seen in all my years down there, but that’s another story.
I mentioned in my last post the backlog of photos I have, and that I thought I might change the format of the image galleries on the Gill Adventures website. As I feared, the change seems to have affected the way google ranks them, and the new galleries rank a lot lower in searches for their terms. They were just indexed, so I’ll watch them for a few days, but I think it may be that I should take the time to build the extra pages to go with them. I’m disappointed, because I thought I might have found a solution to my lack of ability to keep up with everything I hope to.
I have been sidetracked and have not written and podcasted a new story in weeks now. This week is not looking promising, either. I have the consistent failing of believing I can accomplish more than I actually am able to. I had a vision going into this that I would be able to add a new story each week, along with an image gallery, and recording the story in a podcast. I don’t know if it is that I am not efficient enough with my time, too often allow my personal inertia to keep me from jumping into what I need to do, or that I simply have too high of expectations. I suppose I’ll ponder this for my lifetime, and suspect that the answer will continue to illude me.
Cheers, and happy travels!
