Missing Home While Standing Still

We’ve been missing home. Our doggie Sadie back at home got hurt and needed stitches yesterday. The couple who are caring for our house and animals are not sure how it happened; they came home and she had a big tear just behind her shoulder. We were sent a post-veterinarian photo of a sad little doggie wearing one of those cone Elizabethan collars and a line of stitches up her side. This, after we had been looking at photos of Sadie and her canine sister Ayla and were missing them already.

We are back in Omiš for a week and a half, catching up on school and regrouping before our next adventure. I think I’ve decided that two months is too long in one place, especially one we know little about before arriving. It doesn’t help that we are not in love with Omiš, although it did serve a purpose. I’ll do a post about it later.

Our lives were so frantic as we were leaving and there are so many details to get lined up before leaving for a year and a half, there were a lot of things that were not finished. Having a place to stop and tie up the loose ends has been good. The girls have been able to focus on school and I’ve even spent a fair amount of time on Lynda.com learning more about a couple of my programs.

We’ve paid for this apartment through the 16th, but neither Hannah nor John want to still be here for their birthdays on the 13th and 14th. I’m itching to get out of here, as well. Unless we drive someplace else, like Baška Voda where we were yesterday, our thoughts start drifting home. Our dogs, cats, and horses pull at our hearts when we are spending too much time standing still.
